Good afternoon folks.
Hope you’ve had a good week.
I’m hoping a few of you might have noticed that I am running an online event called The Book Marketing & Publicity Show on 3rd - 5th November. (heads up that the early bird rate of £99 ends at midnight)
I think the program is FULL of brilliant and practical workshops and sessions that all authors will benefit from.
Here’s a bit of an outline of what you can expect:
1. Three fabulous keynote speakers:
LJ Ross is the most successful self published author in the UK, and has sold 8 million books and counting. I will be asking her about how she has marketed her books so effectively.
Micaela Alcaino is going to run a workshop on how authors should focus on design across their covers, author platform and marketing assets and how great design sells books.
In my opinion, Clare Mackintosh is the most marketing-savvy traditional published author in the UK, she is brilliant at so many areas, I’ll be finding out creative and practical tips from her that other authors can adapt.
2. Ten workshops giving you step-by-step guidance in one specific area of book marketing, here are a few of the sessions:
* How to engage with your subscribers, with Katie Sadler, Book Marketing Consultant
* How to find and pin down publicity opportunities, with Kim Nash of Bookouture
* How to run a book marketing campaign, with Eleanor Marie Rose, campaign exec at Bonnier Books
* How to build your audience, with Evan Gow of StoryOrigin
* How to write book blurbs, with Louise Willder of Penguin Random House
* How to get started with book ads, with Tanuja Shelar of Joffe Books
3. Six more author Q&As, half self published and half trad published. I will be asking the authors to go into detail about a specific area of marketing, as follows:
Mark Edwards - how he uses Facebook brilliantly as part of his book launches.
Ben Galley - how he uses his author newsletter and Discord group.
Anita Chapman - how she has 2000 reviews six month after publishing her debut.
Mel Sherratt - how she markets in two different genres and with a pseudonym.
Dorothy Koomson - how she uses podcasts to build her reader audience.
Ore Agbaje-Williams - how she got tons of publicity for her debut book.
4. Meet the Influencers. I am going to be in conversation with booksellers, librarians, and bloggers and finding out how you can best work with them. These are the people responsible for connecting with your readers, so these sessions are not to be missed.
I think there is so much to learn over the three days (and you can watch the sessions back until the end of February 2024).
I'd love you to join us. Grab an early bird ticket here.
Please shout if you have any questions.
